Sew Mama Sew is having a Flower Power contest. You can read about the deets here. This is my entry.I'm low on funds this year and high in plain t-shirts so I thought I'd have a little fun with stuff I already have. Tracy was so sweet and sent me the Alabama Stitch book. Isn't she the best!? It is probably the coolest craft book I've ever read. It inspired me to do a little reverse applique for the leaves (and about a million other things). I used a plain white tee and cut up a cream one that. . . shrank. I also cut the edges of the arm sleeve and the hem. It's curled up in the wash. I really like how it turned out. I hope I win something. There are a lot of colorful and cute submissions. Mine is a little plainish. I like that it's subtle though.

You are so awesome!!
that's great, I love it! I need to get back into my sewing room... And I do love a contest, maybe I'll check it out!
Totally love the shirt!! I'm planing to do some reversed leaves myself but some how my office always gets in the way *sigh* :)
Love it! I'm such a fan of flowery embellishments, and when they're subtle and not over-the-top I think you're even more likely to actually wear them, no? V. fab!
That is the coolest!!! I hope you win. If I would have known you where going to make that great of a shirt, I would have bought you that book sooner : )
I hope you win this looks great!
I noticed this shirt on you. I almost asked if you had bought it, but then thought, "it looks professional, she must've done it!" Nice work!

Way to go liz, I always knew you where a winner!!!!!!
This is beautiful! I love it and am totally inspired to try it myself. I think it would be cute at the hem of a t-shirt dress.
Congrats, you are a winner! I love your flower appliques, and just this week received the Alabama Stitch book, too!
i love that your submission was a little on the plain side. while i love the colors on the other submissions, yours is one that i would wear! thank you! btw, love the a line and cork board tutes. you are very crafty and i like that you don't try to spend a ton of money. :)

Love these flowers! Can't wait to try and make some!
I think this was my favourite thing from the flower power contest. It looks great. You´ve inspired me to go and get that darn Alabama Stitch book now :o) I hope you don´t mind me asking (if you ever get to see this comment buried in your blog anyway ;o) ), but I´d like to do more of this sort of embellishments, and can probably only afford one or two books on the topic - was the Alabama Stitch book the best book you´ve seen that inspires this sort of work, or is there another book you´d recommend more? Thanks
